Due to its anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties, it can be used externally to aid the healing of wounds, bruises, burns, varicose veins, toothaches and shingles. Its anti-viral properties seem to be particularly effective against the flu, herpes and hepatitis B and C.
St John’s Wort has often been combined with nettle, ashwagandha, chamomile, white willow bark and peppermint to aid pain and inflammation.
