Motherwort is said to strengthen the heart without causing drowsiness, but rather relaxing and calming due to its sedative and antispasmodic properties. Particularly, it has been prescribed for heart palpitations, missed beats and to relax the nerves where there is nervousness and anxiety.
It may also help women to regulate menstrual cycles, especially if there is stress and tension. Additionally, women have used it to treat ease labour pains and menopausal symptoms, such as hot flushes and mood swings.
