Actions: Astringent clotting agent which assists tissue regeneration externally and internally. Anti-inflammatory, diuretic and antibiotic properties.
Description: Horsetail has been used to treat wounds for centuries due to its high silicon content, as well as its astringent and clotting properties.
These allow it to aid tissue regeneration to restore strength and elasticity (internally and externally), as well as assisting the healing of sprains and fractures. It may be used as a preventative for osteoporosis.
Additionally, it has been prescribed to treat rheumatism, arthritis and chest problems.
Its anti-inflammatory, diuretic and antibiotic effects may prove especially useful with conditions affecting the genitourinary tract, including kidney and bladder problems. Most notably, it has been used to treat prostate problems, as well as urinary tract infections, incontinence, urethritis, and kidney stones. This is partially due to its ability to help with fluid retention and oedema, hence it can also aid swelling of the legs and other body parts.
